Background

Beyond Convictions exists to unlock opportunity for people with a conviction. Led by those who understand the journey firsthand, we help people rebuild their lives through practical support, advocacy, and partnership work across employment, housing, and essential services. We understand the system because we’ve navigated it ourselves. That lived experience shapes everything we do, enabling us to provide practical, person-centred support that removes barriers, builds confidence, and creates lasting pathways to independence. Together, we help people move beyond convictions and towards brighter futures.

Our Values

Beyond Convictions is guided by core values that shape its work and impact:  Adaptable: We meet people where they are flexible, responsive, and focused on what works. Exemplary: We set the standard, acting with integrity, professionalism, and purpose. Compassionate: We lead with empathy, creating space for people to rebuild and grow. Accountable: We do what we say, delivering consistent, measurable impact. Empowering: We unlock potential, equipping people with the tools and confidence to move forward.

Why It Matters

People with a conviction shouldn’t be a life sentence. Yet too many people face closed doors locked out of jobs, housing, essential services and opportunity. This doesn’t just affect individuals; it holds back communities, businesses, and the economy. We’re here to change that. By opening pathways to stability, we help people rebuild their lives and reduce reoffending in the process. It’s about fairness, but it’s also about creating safer communities and lasting impact. Because when people are given a real chance, everyone benefits.

Meet the Founder

David’s journey into the criminal justice system didn’t begin as a career, t began with lived experience. After leaving the system, he faced the same barriers many others do: limited job opportunities, unstable housing, and services that often failed to meet real needs. Reintegration was complex and isolating, but it became his turning point.

Rather than being defined by those experiences, David chose to learn from them. He recognised systemic gaps and a simple truth: the people most affected by the justice system are rarely involved in shaping it.

That insight became his purpose. Starting on the frontline, David supported people rebuilding their lives through employment, stable housing, and improved wellbeing. His approach prioritises dignity, trust, and long-term independence over quick fixes.

Alongside frontline delivery, David has helped shape services, strategy, and policy to ensure they are grounded in lived experience. Through his work with Offploy CIC and User Voice, he has contributed to initiatives generating more than £12 million in social value, measured not only in outcomes but in lives rebuilt.

Today, David combines lived experience with expertise in project management, data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and service design. He builds partnerships, delivers practical training, and champions systems shaped with the people they serve—not simply for them. His commitment is to creating fairer systems, stronger communities, and lasting change.
